Fresh from victory in Dhaka-11, National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener and 11-party alliance candidate Nahid Islam has declared that his win in the 13th parliamentary election is not merely electoral success-but a binding democratic mandate.
"This victory comes with political and moral responsibilities," he said, vowing that the post-election phase will be driven by continued struggle, institutional reform and uncompromising accountability.
Thanking voters after the 12 February poll, Nahid struck a defiant tone "Dhaka-11, today we have won-but our work does not end here. Our struggle will continue, overcoming every obstacle." He pledged to confront "every mistake" and to build "a new, strong, safe and prosperous Dhaka-11," calling residents "the strength behind this journey."
In an emotional message to constituents, he expressed gratitude "for your infinite love, trust and tireless support," and remembered "the martyrs of the July Uprising with respect." He claimed voters had defied "threats, conspiracies, and the money and muscle power of mafia groups" to deliver the verdict. "Your courage, dedication and unity have strengthened our democracy," he said.
Nahid credited grassroots mobilisation for the win. Local leaders and activists of the eleven-party alliance worked relentlessly, he said. "Our mothers and sisters campaigned door to door. Students and youth guarded polling stations. This victory belongs to everyone."
Now, he says, the real test begins.
"Soon I will meet you in every corner of Dhaka-11," he promised. "Our goal is not just victory. We want a constituency free from terrorism, extortion and illegal occupation-fair and safe for all."
