Speculations rife in Ctg over probable ministers

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 15: There is a speculation of inclusion of some heavy weight leaders of Chattogram, in the Cabinet of the BNP government.

The BNP won 21 Jatiya Sangshad seats among 23 in greater Chattogram in 13th parliamentary election on February 12.
Only two JS seats go to Jamaat-led 11 party alliance.
The people of Chattogram expected a remarkable numbers of MPs in the BNP Cabinet.

Earlier in the previous governemnts of BNP, Chattogram got over ten Ministers in the cabinet.

There are two elected lawmakers from Chattogram in the BNP standing Committee. They are Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury from Chattogram 11 and Salahuddin Ahmed from Cox's Bazar-1 constituencies.

In Chattogram-11 constituency, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury secured victory with 1,15,999 votes, defeating Jamaat candidate Mohammad Shafiul Alam, who received 76,681 votes. Amir Khasru was the Commerce Minister in the previous BNP government. He had also been elected MP from Chattogram for several times.

Another Standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed who won in the Cox's Bazar-1 constituency is likely to be included in the Cabinet. He was a State Minister in the previous BNP cabinet. He had also been an elected MP from this seat several times.

Besides, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin won in the Chattogram-5 (Hathazari) constituency, acquiring 143,965 votes defeating Khilafat Majlis' candidate Maulana Md. Nasir Uddin Munir (Rickshaw) who received 44,708 votes. Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury won in the Chattogram-6 (Raujan) constituency, securing 1,12,237 votes while Mohammad Ilias Noori (Mombati/candle) of the Islamic Front received 27,146 votes.

Humam Quader Chowdhury won in the Chattogram-7 (Rangunia) constituency, with 1,11,445 votes defeating Dr. ATM Rezaul Karim, the Jamaat candidate.

Sayed Al Noman won the Chattogram-10 constituency, with 121,364 votes, surpassing Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mohammad Shamsuzzaman Helali, who got 74,407 votes.

Among the three new comers and the sons of influential BNP leaders are expected to be included in the cabinet.
