Dhaka University’s (DU) Associate Professor Shehreen Amin Bhuiyan Monami has shared screenshots of death threats she received on social media, directly addressing BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Posting on Facebook on February 15, Monami highlighted threats targeting her since February 13 and asked, “Dear Tarique Rahman. Is this your ‘women-friendly and safe’ Bangladesh?” She also referenced July 31, 2024, noting she has faced threats since that time.

Earlier, Monami filed a case under the Cyber Security Act after her photos were allegedly manipulated and circulated with indecent comments.

The incident underscores growing concerns over online harassment and the safety of women academics in Bangladesh.
