India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Tarique Rahman as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Tuesday.

The two senior officials are likely to represent India at the ceremony as part of diplomatic engagements surrounding the formation of country’s new government.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin is scheduled to administer the oath of office to BNP-led cabinet-elect at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday afternoon.

Traditionally, Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban has been used for government swearing-in ceremonies.

However, according to sources at the Chief Adviser’s Office, this time the ceremony will be held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban complex.
