Police arrested two alleged ‘robbers’ along with cash and gold jewellery while they were preparing for a heist from Fatullah police station area in Narayanganj district early Saturday.
The arrested were identified as Oliullah Hawladar, 30 and his relative Zakaria, 28, currently residing at Noyabazar area in Muslim Nagar area.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive around 4:40 AM and arrested the duo along with robbery tools. Several other accomplices reportedly fled the spot.
Police also recovered cash of Tk 8 lakh, 39.72 grams of gold, a Swiss gear knife, a steel machete, a small knife, a gas lighter heater and a grill-cutting device from the spot.
Fatullah Model Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Mannan confirmed the detention and said that a case has been filed under charges of preparing to commit robbery.
Further investigation will be available after completion of the investigation, added the OC.
