A rape incident of a 32-year-old mother of three children has been reported at Hatiya upazila of Noakhali district reportedly for casting her vote in favor of Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP).

The heinous incident took place on Friday night, one day after the national election took place in the country.

The victim, a resident of a local shelter project at Nolerchar area, sought medical treatment at Noakhali 250-Bed Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

After initial emergency care, she was admitted to the hospital’s gynecology department for further examination.

According to the victim, the attack was retaliation for voting for NCP candidate. She also alleged that the perpetrators, previously associated with Awami League politics, are now asserting influence locally under BNP banner following the government change.

When contacted Emergency Medical Officer at the hospital Dr. Mostafizur Rahman confirmed The Daily Observer that there are symbols of physical assault in the victim's body. However, they run some tests after the victim claimed such violations.

The finding reports will unveil the victim's allegation whether its true or not, he added.

In the meantime, a central NCP member Tuhin Imran  strongly condemned the incident and demanded legal action following a fair investigation.

Hatiya Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Saiful Islam said he had not received detailed information yet but would look into the matter.

Meanwhile, BNP candidate from Hatiya representing ‘Dhaner Shish’ symbol, Mahbubur Rahman Shamim, claimed the allegations were false and described them as a fabricated incident.
