Brawl over wedding invitation leaves one dead in Sunamganj

A man was killed in a clash triggered from a wedding invitation at Dirai upazila in Sunamganj district on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Anjur Mia, 45, son of late Sadullah.

According to locals, a misunderstanding had grown betweenthe victim and his relative Anhar Mia over a wedding invitation refusal. Which later escalated into a cold conflict between them.

In the following day (Saturday) Anjur Mia went to the bride’s home to deliver wedding supplies which caused an altercation between them which turned into clash around 12:45 PM.
During the clash, Anjur sustained severe injuries.

Later, locals rushed him to Dirai Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Confirming the incident, Dirai Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Enamul Haq Chowdhury said that the body has been sent to Sunamganj General Hospital for an autopsy.

Investigations have been going on and legal necessary actions will be followed, added the OC.
