2 killed in C'nawabganj cocktail explosion

Two people were killed and three others seriously injured in an explosion while making homemade cocktails at a house in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 5 AM at Pathapara village of Charbagdanga union in the upazila.

Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nur e Alam confirmed the incident, stating that the explosion was so severe that the identities of the deceased could not be immediately determined.

The house’s brick walls collapse and the tin roof was blown off, added the OC.

The injured have been identified as Minhaz, 52, and Bazlur Rahman, 20, from Pathapara and Md. Shuvo, 20, from Dhumi village in Ranihat.

They were first taken to Chapainawabganj General Hospital and later transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment due to the severity of their injuries.

Local police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in the area and the situation in the area is reported to be under control.
