Stop fish poisoning in haors and beels

Published : Sunday, 15 February, 2026 at 12:00 AM  Count : 345
Dear Sir,

Sunamganj is a region rich in numerous haors and beels. These wetlands are important natural water reservoirs of the country, where various species of native fish are born and grow. They play a vital role in meeting the protein needs of the local people.

However, it is deeply unfortunate that in recent years some dishonest individuals, driven by revenge or the intention of illegal fishing, have been indiscriminately killing fish by applying poison to the beel waters. Later, these poisoned fish are stolen and sold in the market.

Therefore, in the interest of environmental protection and public health, we respectfully urge the concerned authorities to identify the offenders, bring them under the law, and ensure the security of the beels.
