Interim government's Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus extended congratulations and thanks to Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman for his party’s dignified participation and outcome in the 13th national parliamentary elections.

In a statement on Saturday, the Chief Adviser said, “I sincerely thank you for your leadership in ensuring active and extensive participation of your party candidates, maintaining strong competition, and accepting the election results peacefully and with dignity.”

He added, “From the election campaign through to the post-result period, your political decorum, restraint, responsible statements, and calls for peaceful conduct among your members played a vital role in maintaining overall stability in the country.”

The Chief Adviser also acknowledged Jamaat’s constructive support, advice, and cooperation during the interim government’s tenure, saying it contributed positively to national administration.

He emphasised that Bangladesh faces significant challenges and opportunities in the global economy, technological transformation, climate change, human resource development, and social justice. “In this context, both the government and the opposition must act responsibly and with integrity to strengthen democracy and institutional stability,” he said.

Prof Yunus expressed his expectation that under Dr Shafiqur Rahman’s leadership, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will serve as a constructive and responsible opposition, playing an active role in parliament and the broader political arena.
