Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, spokesperson of Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) and chairman of its central election steering committee, has alleged that leaders and activists of NCP and 11-party alliance are facing attacks across the country, with their homes and families reportedly under threat.

In a Facebook post on Friday afternoon, Asif Mahmud said the incidents of violence are occurring in multiple locations nationwide.

He urged those who have been declared winners in the elections to take responsibility for controlling their party activists, warning that beginning a democratic transition with the persecution of opposition members and dissenting voices would be “embarrassing” for the country.
