Tamim Iqbal casts first vote in Chittagong-9 constituency

Former Bangladesh national cricket team captain Tamim Iqbal cast his first-ever vote at the age of 36 during the 13th National Parliamentary Election on Thursday.

Tamim voted at polling booth number 19 of the SS Khaled Road Regional Public Administration Training Center (RPATC) in Chittagong around 11:00 AM.

He was escorted inside the centre by army and police personnel. His brother, Nafis Iqbal, accompanied him and also cast his vote.

After voting, Tamim told journalists, “I cast my first vote in a beautiful environment and it feels great. I voted for the candidate of my choice and hope everyone comes to the polling station to exercise their right to vote.”

The Chittagong-9 constituency has a total of 4,16,363 registered voters, including 2,13,906 men 22,448 women and 9 third-gender voters.

According to KBM Mustafa Zaman, presiding officer of the RPATC centre, around 21 percent of the votes had been cast at the centre by 1:00 PM.
