Police have recovered the hanging body of a Mahila Dal leader from a rented house in Feni town.
Deceased Roksana Akhter Lipi, 31, was the daughter of Abul Bashar Badsha Mia of the Kashem Bazar area in Sonagazi upazila and the wife of US expatriate Dulal Hossain.
She was the convener of Feni municipality Ward 11 Mahila Dal and a member of the municipal BNP.
Her body was recovered on Wednesday night (February 11) from a room at Khalek Mansion on Moksedur Rahman Road in the town.
According to party sources, Lipi was actively involved in campaigning for the paddy sheaf candidate. Due to political engagements, she had sent her 13-year-old daughter to her mother's house.
On Wednesday evening, family members tried several times to contact her over mobile phone but received no response. They then went to the house and found the room locked from the inside. Looking through a window of the adjacent building, they saw her hanging from the ceiling fan with a scarf wrapped around her neck.
Police and fire service personnel later broke the door open and recovered the body, which was sent to the Feni General Hospital morgue.
Some local Mohila Dal leaders alleged that no senior BNP leader visited the hospital hours after her death.
