2 ‘smugglers’ held with hemp in Kushtia

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two alleged smugglers along with hemp from Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district on Tuesday morning.

The arrested were identified as Md Jamal Uddin, 35, a resident of Hosenabad village, and Md Rakib Hasan, 22, from Dofadarpara area, both under Daulatpur police station.

According to sources, an election BGB base camp team set up at Bagoan KCVN High School conducted a routine vehicle check at around 10 AM on a paved road in Char Shadhipur area and arrested the duo along with hemp.

BGB recovered 3.5 kg of hemp worth Tk 3500 from their possessions.

Confirming the incident, BGB officials said that the arrested were later handed over to Daulatpur police station for further legal action.
