A Bogura court on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant against content creator Ashraful Hossain Alom, popularly known as Hero Alom, in connection with a rape case involving allegations of sexual exploitation under the promise of marriage.
Judge Anwarul Haque of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 passed the order after the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted its investigation report to the court, confirming evidence supporting the allegations, prosecutor Ali Asgar said.
According to the case statement and prosecution, Hero Alom allegedly developed a physical relationship with Sadia Rahman Mithila by promising to marry her and cast her as a film heroine. The woman later accused him of raping her, physically torturing her and forcing her to undergo an abortion.
Mithila filed a case with the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal on April 21, 2025.
During the investigation, PBI reportedly found evidence substantiating the allegations brought against Hero Alom, prompting the court to issue the arrest warrant.
Attempts to contact Hero Alom for comments on the matter were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to phone calls.
Further legal proceedings are underway.
