Japanese, IRI election observers meet CA

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus received election observation delegations from Japan and International Republican Institute (IRI) at state guest house Jamuna on Tuesday, according to Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

The Japanese Election Observation Mission was led by Ambassador Masato Watanabe and included senior officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Embassy of Japan in Dhaka, such as Naonori Kusakabe, Sonoko Ichimura, Yoshiaki Kobayashi, SAIDA Shinichi, KOMINE Ken, NISHI Yuki and SONE Keita.

The delegation discussed election processes and shared perspectives on Bangladesh’s upcoming polls.

Meanwhile, a five-member team from IRI, led by former US Congressman David Dreyer, also paid a courtesy call on the Chief Adviser.

The meeting focused on election observation and related activities.

Senior Secretary and SDG Coordinator Lamiya Morshed and Mohammed Nore Alam, Director General of East Asia & Pacific at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended both meetings along with other senior officials, underscoring the government’s engagement with international partners on ensuring transparent and credible elections.
