Joint forces conducted a special joint drill in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram district on Tuesday to ensure a smooth and secure environment ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and 2026 referendum.
Organised by the upazila administration, the drill took place at noon and involved magistrates, the army, police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel working in coordination. The exercise started from the Upazila Parishad premises and proceeded through major roads in the area.
Speaking at the event, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mehedi Hasan Faruk said that comprehensive preparations were underway to ensure that the entire Boalkhali upazila was secure ahead of the 13th parliamentary elections and the referendum.
He added that the joint drill was part of those preparations and that the administration was taking all possible measures to ensure the elections were conducted smoothly, safely and fairly.
“This exercise is aimed at enabling voters to come to polling stations confidently and exercise their voting rights in a festive and safe atmosphere,” added the UNO.
Boalkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Assistant Returning Officer Mehedi Hasan Faruk, Judicial Magistrate Farzana Yasmin, Assistant Commissioner (AC-Land) and Executive Magistrate Kaniz Fatema, Army Camp Commander Major Rasel, BGB-8 Infantry Deputy Commander Major Sakib Ishraq Apurbo, members of Boalkhali Police Station, APBN, BGB and Ansar personnel were present at the drill.
