The government has imposed a nationwide ban on drone operations until February 15 to ensure security and maintain public order.
Violations of the ban will be treated as offences under the Civil Aviation Act, 2017.
A notification issued Tuesday by Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) stated that the restriction does not apply to law enforcement agencies or the defence forces performing official duties.
Conditional permission may be granted for drone operations related to research, surveys, agriculture, monitoring activities by government or private entities and broadcasting of government-organised events.
Such operations require prior application to CAAB and clearance from all relevant authorities.
The notification warned that anyone operating a drone in violation of the restriction will face punishment under Section 24 of the Civil Aviation Act, 2017.
