Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hasan has called for a peaceful, neutral and impartial conduct of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum, emphasising the need for coordinated efforts between all law enforcement agencies and the administration.
He urged that citizens should be able to exercise their voting rights in a fear-free, festive atmosphere, with the utmost professionalism and vigilance from security forces.
During a visit to Kutubdia and Sandwip on Wednesday, M Nazmul Hasan personally reviewed the security arrangements, preparations, and operational activities of the Navy’s contingents deployed for election duties.
The Navy Chief held a meeting with civilian authorities, law enforcement officials, and election personnel to discuss the security measures in place for the upcoming elections.
Senior officials including range DIGs, deputy commissioners, superintendents of police, election officers, and navy contingent commanders attended the meeting.
Admiral M Nazmul Hasan emphasised the importance of inter-agency coordination and a robust security setup to ensure a credible and safe election process.
He stressed the need for continuous monitoring of polling centrse, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding voters, urging all involved to remain alert and focused throughout the election period.
To strengthen security in the coastal and island regions, the Navy has deployed vessels in Bhola, Hatia, Sandwip, Cox’s Bazar, and Saint Martin’s Island, while maintaining a sufficient number of boats ready for emergency situations. Advanced surveillance technology, including drones and body-worn cameras, has been activated to prevent violence and monitor disturbances.
Additionally, the Navy has launched special operations to seize illegal arms and ammunition, alongside regular patrols and foot patrols to ensure public safety.
In case of emergencies, helicopters, Quick Response Forces (QRF), and SWAT teams have been placed on standby for rapid response.
Admiral M Nazmul Hasan assured that the Bangladesh Navy is fully committed to providing all necessary support to the local administration and relevant authorities to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.
He emphasised the Navy’s role in ensuring voter security and maintaining a peaceful, free, and fair election environment.
