The government has appointed 1,051 officers from Ministry of Public Administration as executive magistrates to conduct mobile courts across the country ahead of February 12 national election and referendum.
According to a notification issued by the ministry on Tuesday, the appointed executive magistrates are required to report to their respective district magistrates or returning officers on February 7.
The district magistrates or returning officers will then assign jurisdictions and responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of the mobile courts.
Under Section 5 of the Mobile Court Act, 2009, the officers are empowered to operate mobile courts nationwide from February 8 to 14.
The mobile courts will work in coordination with law enforcement agencies deployed for the election, including mobile and striking forces, with special focus on border security and coastal areas involving BGB and Coast Guard, to maintain law and order and prevent crime in election zones.
Special training for the executive magistrates will be conducted online.
Officers from Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions will receive training on February 5 at 10:00 AM, while those from Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions will be trained at 2:30 PM the same day.
