Vote for 'Daripalla' to build a corruption-free Bangladesh: Mujibur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami central nayeb-e-ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman on Wednesday called on voters to cast their ballots for 'Daripalla' symbol to help build a corruption-free Bangladesh.

Addressing an election rally at Charfesson Government TB Model Secondary School ground in Bhola-4 constituency at around 11:00 AM, he said that over the 54 years since independence, the country has been governed repeatedly by three major political parties, all of which, he alleged, were involved in corruption, money laundering and criminal activities while in power.

“Jamaat-e-Islami had two ministers and 22 members of parliament, yet not a single credible allegation of corruption was raised against them,” he claimed. “Since people have seen the rule of all parties, it is now time to vote for Jamaat-e-Islami to establish a corruption-free Bangladesh.”

Professor Mujibur Rahman further said that if Jamaat comes to power, bribery and corruption would be eliminated from every sector of the state.

He claimed that citizens would be able to report bribery or extortion through mobile applications while keeping their identities confidential and that the government would take swift action against offenders.

Criticising proposals for unemployment allowances by rival parties, he argued that such measures would encourage idleness among young people and increase unemployment.

“Jamaat will create jobs instead of distributing allowances, enabling youths to live with dignity and serve the nation,” he said.

Responding to demands raised at the rally for the construction of a Bhola–Barishal bridge, he described the demand as long-standing and justified.

He added that eliminating corruption would ensure sufficient state funds, making it easier for the government to undertake large infrastructure projects, including the bridge.

At the rally, Professor Mujibur Rahman formally handed over 'Daripalla' symbol to Maulana Mostafa Kamal, Jamaat-nominated parliamentary candidate of 11-party alliance for Bhola-4 (Charfession–Monpura) and sought votes on his behalf.

The rally was presided over by Kazi Maulana Harun-or-Rashid, Jamaat’s election director for Bhola-4 constituency and conducted by Charfesson upazila Jamaat Ameer Principal Mir Mohammad Sharif Hossain.

Islami Chhatra Shibir Central President Nurul Islam Saddam spoke as the chief speaker.

Among the special guests were Bangladesh Development Party Chairman Advocate Anwarul Haque Chan, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Advocate Muazzem Hossain Helal, Jagannath University VP Riazul Islam Riaz and senior Appellate Division lawyer Advocate Parvez Hossain.

Leaders from several alliance parties and organisations also addressed the gathering, which was attended by thousands of supporters.

Following the rally, Jamaat leaders alleged at a press conference held at upazila Jamaat office that BNP activists had attacked Jamaat’s male and female supporters in several unions while they were travelling to the event.

They claimed that 15 to 20 Jamaat activists were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.

They further alleged that although law enforcement agencies initially detained some of the accused, they were later released for unexplained reasons.
