Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has urged political activists and the public to maintain decorum and decency while engaging in criticism.
In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday, the Jamaat chief emphasized that personal attacks during electoral campaigning are unacceptable and counterproductive.
"While everyone has the right to criticize, it should never cross the boundaries of decency," Shafiqur wrote.
He stressed the importance of expressing opinions through logic and polite language, advising followers to avoid words that they would find hurtful if directed at themselves or their loved ones.
Dr. Shafiqur further noted that even when a respected figure is subjected to distasteful criticism, the response should be articulated with superior language and sound reasoning.
He identified this approach as a core component of Islamic teachings and ethical conduct.
The Ameer concluded his post by expressing hope that all political stakeholders would take his advice seriously to ensure a respectful environment ahead of the polls. "May Allah help us. Amin," he added.
