Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Monday conferred the Deans’ Award on 17 students and the Deans’ Merit Award on 73 students in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the undergraduate (honours) examinations of 2020 and 2021.

The award-giving ceremony was held at the seminar room of the Zahir Raihan Auditorium, with Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan attending as the chief guest and presenting the awards to the recipients.

University authorities selected 73 students—one from each department and institute—who secured the highest marks and CGPA to receive the Deans’ Merit Award. In addition, 17 students—one from each faculty and institute with the best overall results—were honoured with the Deans’ Award.

Addressing the program, Professor Kamrul Ahsan said the awardees had demonstrated academic excellence and expressed hope that their future professional achievements would enhance both their personal standing and the reputation of the university.

He stressed that academic merit must go hand in hand with ethics and values, urging students to uphold integrity, contribute to society and the state, cultivate positive thinking and remain consistent in their actions.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Sohel Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Md Abdur Rob, deans of various faculties and other senior officials were also present at the ceremony.
