The holy Shab-e-Barat, also known as the Night of Forgiveness and Fortune, will be observed across the country on Tuesday night with religious devotion and fervour.
The Islamic Foundation has organised programmes at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka, including waz (religious sermons), doa-mahfil, special prayers, recitations from the Holy Quran and Hamd-Naat.
Religious sermons focusing on the significance of Shab-e-Barat will also be delivered at various mosques across the country after Maghrib prayers, followed by special munajat (supplications) after Isha prayers.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Monday issued a message greeting all Muslims in the country and across the world on the occasion of this holy night.
On Shab-e-Barat, a large number of devotees traditionally visit nearby graveyards to offer prayers and supplications for the eternal peace of departed loved ones. People also engage in charitable acts, distributing money, food, and sweetmeats among the poor and destitute.
