CHATTOGRAM, Jan 24: The Election campaign for the 13th national polls began on Thursday, the first day of campaign as the Election Commission (EC) completed the allocation of symbols to all contestants in all constituencies of Chattogram.
A total of 111 candidates are contesting in 16 constituencies of Chattogram.
The candidates of BNP, Jamaat-e- Islami Jote and other Independents have started their campaign on Thursday.
Election campaign started with festive mood in Chattogram for the 13th Parliamentary polls scheduled to be held on February 12.
A total of 111 candidates of various political parties including the BNP, Jammat-e- Islami, NCP, LDP, and other Islamic parties.
Most of the candidates have started the election campaign in thier respective constituencies.
The supporters of the contestants have been distributing leaflets to the voters of their respective constituencies.
Besides, the candidates have been visiting door to door physically to woo the voters. They have been exchanging views with the voters on the next elections.
Abu Sufian from BNP and Dr. AKM Fazlul Huq from Jamaat have started their campaign in Ctg-9 (Kotwali-Bakalia) constituency. During the campiagn at various places of Kotwali and Bakalia, they vowed to dedicate themselves for more development of the areas.
Meanwhile, BNP candidate Syeed Al Noman, who is contesting from Ctg-10 (Double Mooring-Pahartali) constituency has started his campaign from Chattogram WASA point in the afternoon. Later on he visited the nearby areas with his supporters.
In Ctg-11 (Port-Patenga) BNP candidate Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury also uged the people to vote for him again as they had voted him to make a lawmaker earlier in order to serve the people. He also has been elected MP from this constituency for two terms.
In Ctg-12 Patiya constituency BNP candidate Enamul Huq Enam, in Ctg-13(Anowara_Karnaphuli) Constituency BNP candidate Sarwar Jamal Nizam have started their campaign. Nizam has been elected MP from Ctg-13 constituency several times.
The EC said while giving reminder to the contenders that campaigning must comply with its code of conduct, which sets limits on rallies, use of campaign materials and the loudspeakers, and requires all activities to end 48 hours before polling day.
Polling is scheduled for 12 February, with voting to take place from morning until late afternoon.
EC's Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates 2025 stated that no registered political party, nominated candidate, independent candidate, or their representatives may begin election campaigning more than three weeks before polling day.
The code ensures equal rights for all candidates during campaigning. It strictly prohibits any obstruction, disruption, or intimidation of rival candidates' meetings, processions, or other campaign activities.
