Bangladesh Air Force emerged as the overall champions of the Teer 16th National Archery Championships 2025, clinching five gold medals on the final day as all medal matches across recurve and compound divisions concluded on Saturday at the Archery Training Academy in Tangi, Dhaka.
Organised by the Bangladesh Archery Federation and sponsored by City Group, the championship reached its crescendo with a series of high-intensity finals where composure under pressure and pin-point accuracy made the ultimate difference.
In the compound men's individual event, BKSP archer Aishwarya Rahman struck gold after defeating Nawaz Ahmed Rakib (Bangladesh Archery Federation) by 147-142. The bronze medal went to Himu Bachhar (Bangladesh Air Force), who edged past teammate Md Tarikul Islam Tawhid by 143-137.
The compound women's individual title was claimed by Mosammat Kulsum Akter Moni (BKSP), who prevailed in a nail-biting contest, beating Bannya Akter (Bangladesh Air Force) 144-143. Tania Rima (Bangladesh Army) secured bronze with a 142-140 win over Shriporna Biswas (BKSP).
In the compound men's team event, BKSP, represented by Aishwarya Rahman, Al Shahriar Rahman Joy and Md Ashikul Islam Ashik, won gold with a 228-226 victory over Bangladesh Air Force.
Bangladesh Ansar took bronze after defeating Bangladesh Army 225-220.
The compound women's team gold went to Bangladesh Air Force (Bannya Akter, Pushpita Jaman and Joma Akter), who edged out Bangladesh Army 224-222. BKSP claimed bronze by overcoming Falcon Archery Club 214-210.
In the compound mixed team event, Bangladesh Air Force duo of Bannya Akter and Himu Bachhar defeated BKSP by 156-147 to win gold, while Bangladesh Army secured bronze with a narrow 151-150 win over Bangladesh Ansar.
Drama unfolded in the recurve men's individual final, where Ramkrishna Saha (Bangladesh Air Force) defeated teammate Md Rakib Mia in a tense shoot-off after the match ended 5-5 on sets.
Saha's final arrow scored 10, edging Rakib Mia's 9, to seal gold 6-5. Abdur Rahman Alif (Bangladesh Air Force) claimed bronze, beating Md Mishad Pradhan 6-5.
In the recurve women's individual event, Sonali Roy (BKSP) secured gold with a 7-3 victory over Monira Akter (BKSP). Saima Salah Uddin (BKSP) won bronze, defeating Tayyeba Akter (BKSP Archery Club) 6-2.
The recurve men's team gold went to Bangladesh Ansar, who edged Bangladesh Air Force 5-4 after a shoot-off following a 4-4 set tie. BKSP claimed bronze, defeating Bangladesh Army 5-4 in another shoot-off.
In the recurve women's team event, Bangladesh Air Force defeated Bangladesh Army 5-4 after a tie-break to win gold, while BKSP secured bronze with a 5-1 win over BKSP Archery Club.
The recurve mixed team title was claimed emphatically by Bangladesh Air Force (Seema Akter Shimu and Md Rakib Mia), who whitewashed Archery Club of Dhaka Metropolitan 6-0. BKSP Archery Club earned bronze with a 6-0 victory over Bangladesh Ansar.
At the prize-giving ceremonies, Bangladesh Olympic Association Vice-President Major (retd) Imroz Ahmed distributed awards for the compound division, while the recurve division prizes were handed over by Md Selim Fakir, NDC, Additional Secretary (Sports-1 Wing) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Also present were City Group Executive Director Zafar Uddin Siddique, Brand Manager Rubaiyat Ahmed, Lt Col Alamgir Kabir, Wing Commander Md Ekramul Haque, and Bangladesh Archery Federation General Secretary Tanvir Ahmed.
With arrows flying true and margins decided by the width of a ring, Bangladesh Air Force's clinical consistency ensured they stood tallest at the end proving once again that championships are won not only by aim, but by nerve.
