The Election Commission (EC) has decided not to allow media coverage of its briefing with foreign diplomats ahead of the referendum and 13th parliamentary election scheduled for February 12.

The briefing will be held on Sunday at Westin Hotel in Gulshan, where EC will brief diplomats from all foreign missions currently working in Bangladesh, according to election officials.

EC Public Relations Director Ruhul Amin Mallik confirmed the matter on Saturday, saying the briefing session would not be open to the media.

He added, however, that after the programme ends, EC secretary will brief journalists at the EC Secretariat to share relevant information from the meeting.
