BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday dismissed allegations by Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) that BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman violated the election code of conduct, calling the claims false and part of a campaign of “hyper-propaganda.”
Speaking to journalists after visiting the grave of late Arafat Rahman Koko at Banani in Dhaka on the occasion of his death anniversary, Rizvi said Arafat Rahman had died due to prolonged physical and mental torture during the 1/11 caretaker government period and the subsequent Awami League regime.
Referring to the allegations against Tarique Rahman, Rizvi said BNP chairman had postponed his scheduled tour of northern Bangladesh at the request of Election Commission and later carried out political activities in full compliance with the Commission’s directives.
He alleged that Tarique Rahman’s political opponents, driven by jealousy over his leadership and public speeches, were attempting to confuse and mislead people by spreading false narratives.
Rizvi reiterated that BNP remains committed to abiding by election laws and regulations and urged the public not to be misled by what he described as politically motivated propaganda.
