Police recovered the hanging body of a youth from Ulipur upazila of Kurigram district early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Ziarul, 26, son of Afzal Hossain of Kajirchak area under Ulipur municipality. Ziarul worked as a street vendor.
According to sources, Ziarul had four wives and two children and reportedly faced mental stress due to family issues. After his third wife left for her father’s house in Dhaka, Ziarul joined a garment factory there and tried to convince her to return via phone. When she blocked his number, he reportedly became despondent.
Following mental stress, Ziarul allegedly consumed sleeping pills and hanged himself from the ceiling beam in his bedroom while his family was unaware on Friday late night.
Later, family discovered his hanging body and informed police.
Being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Kurigram General Hospital Morgue for an autopsy.
Ulipur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Saeed Ibn Siddik confirmed the incident and said that an unnatural death case has been filed.
The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report, added the OC.
