BNP Secretary General and Thakurgaon-1 constituency candidate Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the family card proposed under Tarique Rahman’s plan will be a weapon for mothers and sisters.

''This card will be useful for women in managing many aspects of their household,'' he said on Saturday noon at an election street rally in Auliapur union of Thakurgaon Sadar.

Mirza Fakhrul said that similar cards would be introduced for farmers, such as an agriculture card, which would benefit farmers directly. ''A Health Card would make access to healthcare services easier for the people.''

He reminded voters that those who are now seeking votes with the scale symbol, had opposed Bangladesh's independence.
''Our Hindu brothers and sisters should not feel afraid. This country is yours; the soil of this country is yours. Just as a Muslim has rights, you have the very same rights. Everyone here is equal; you are all citizens of the same country.''
