Two individuals were killed and several others injured after a minibus overturned in a road mishap in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district on Thursday evening.
The deceased were identified as Shahjahan Siraj, 40, son of Nurul Islam from Birunia area in the upazila and Mohammad Anik Mia, 28, son of Mohammad Altaf Hossain from Jagannathdia village in Ghior upazila of Manikganj district.
According to sources, the incident occurred around evening hours in Mehrabari area of Sadar union when a Mymensingh-bound minibus lost control, mounted the road divider and overturned, causing Siraj to die on the spot and injuring others.
Later, locals rushed to the scene and rescued the injured, taking them to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex, but Anik succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Two critically injured passengers were later referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, while four others received treatment at the upazila health complex.
Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex medical officer Dr Minara Khatun confirmed the incident.
