For violating party decisions, two rebel candidates of the BNP in two constituencies of Munshiganj have been expelled from their respective posts.
They have also been expelled from the party’s primary membership.
The decision was announced in a letter signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Adv Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday night.
The expelled leaders are Md Momin Ali, a member of the district BNP convening committee from Munshiganj-1 (Sreenagar and Sirajdikhan) and Md Mohiuddin, district BNP member secretary and president of Sadar Upazila BNP from Munshiganj-3 (Sadar and Gazaria).
Following the organisational action against these two BNP leaders, a sense of relief has returned among party leaders and activists in the two constituencies.
It has been learned that in Munshiganj-1 constituency, Md Momin Ali was expelled from his position as a member of the district BNP convening committee for contesting the election as an independent candidate with the Football symbol, defying the party’s decision.
Similarly, in Munshiganj-3 constituency, Md Mohiuddin was expelled as district BNP member secretary for running as an independent candidate with the Football symbol against the party’s nominated candidate.
