India has advised dependents of its Mission and Post officials in Bangladesh to return home as a precautionary measure amid concerns over the prevailing security situation, Indian news agency ANI reported.
As part of the move, India is withdrawing family members of diplomats and other officials from all its missions in Bangladesh. Owing to security concerns, New Delhi has decided to designate Bangladesh as a "non-family" posting for its diplomats.
India maintains a High Commission in Dhaka and Assistant High Commissions in Khulna, Rajshahi, Chattogram and Sylhet.
"Given the security situation, as a precautionary measure, we have advised the dependents of officials in the Mission and Posts to return to India," a source in the Ministry of External Affairs said.
The source added that the Mission and all Posts in Bangladesh remain open and fully operational.
