The Chief Adviser's Office has decided to provide an additional Tk 10 million to cover the living expenses of the family of Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
The decision to bear the expenses of Hadi's widow and child came a day after the government allocated Tk 10 million to purchase a flat in Dhaka for the family.
Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed revealed the information to reporters on Wednesday after a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Purchase at the Secretariat.
"Two measures have been taken for Hadi's family. One is that Tk 10 million will be given to the family from the Ministry of Finance for a flat or a house."
"Another Tk 10 million is coming from the chief advisor's fund. This is for bearing the family's living expenses," said Salehuddin.
Hadi, convenor of the Inquilab Mancha and a prospective candidate, rose to prominence during the July Uprising and the movement to ban the Awami League.
He had announced his candidacy as an independent for the Dhaka-8 seat in the parliamentary elections.
On Dec 12, while campaigning in Bijoynagar, he was shot by attackers on a motorcycle.
Gravely wounded, Hadi was air-ambulanced to Singapore for advanced treatment, where he died on Dec 18.
Following his death, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus vowed that the state would look after Hadi's widow and only child. "bdnews24
