CHATTOGRAM, JAN 21: The annual sports competition of Suhrawardy Hall has been inaugurated at the central playground of Chittagong University (CU).
CU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yahya Akhtar inaugurated the event as the chief guest by releasing balloons and festoons at the CU central playground at 10 AM on Wednesday.
CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) and CU Central Sports Committee President Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin were present as special guests.
CU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yahya Akhtar urged students to focus on sports instead of being addicted to mobile phones. He said, we always encourage co-curricular activities. Sports are one of them. If you play sports, you will have a good mind and attitude.
He also said that Bangladesh is known in the world for sports. Therefore, I hope that students will keep themselves engaged in physical exercise and sports not only today, but always.
CU Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellors distributed prizes among the winners of the first event, the 100-meter sprint competition.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by CU Suhrawardy Hall Provost Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan and the program was moderated by Shakib Ahmed and Sonia Parveen Lucky.
Among others, CU Business Administration Faculty Dean Professor Dr. Mohammad Tayyab Chowdhury, Law Faculty Dean Professor Dr. Md. Zafar Ullah Talukder, CU Physical Education Department Director (Acting) Md. Habibur Rahman Jalal and deans of various faculties of CU, provosts of various halls, proctors and assistant proctors, examination controllers, director of CU Student Counseling and Guidance Center, residential teachers of Suhrawardy Hall, presidents of various departments, officers and employees, and sports-loving students were present on the occasion.
