A woman was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the Dhaka–Mymensingh Highway in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Jahanara Akhtar, 40, wife of late Ansarul from Board Bazar area under Chandabar village in Bhaluka’s Rajai union.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 3:00 PM at police station moar area of the upazila when Jahanara was returning home after completing her banking activities and a speeding unidentified mini truck hit her, leaving her critically injured.
Later, locals rescued and rushed her to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex, where she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
Confirming the incident, Bharadoba Highway Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) ABM Mehedi Masu said that the body has been brought to the highway police station, and legal proceedings are underway in this regard.
