A voter awareness programme featuring a film screening and courtyard meeting was held at Charfesson upazila of Bhola district to encourage citizens to exercise their voting rights ahead of the upcoming referendum and the 13th national parliamentary election.

The programme was organised by Bhola District Information Office on Tuesday afternoon at Charfesson Fashion Square, with more than a hundred voters; both men and women, participating enthusiastically.

The event was moderated by Bhola District Information Officer Md Shah Abdur Rahim Nurunnabi and chaired by Charfesson Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Assistant Returning Officer Lokman Hossain.

Bhola Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Shamim Rahman joined virtually as the chief guest, while Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah Kawsar participated as a special guest.

Among others, Charfesson Assistant Commissioner (Land) Emadul Hossain, Upazila Agriculture Officer Nazmul Huda, Social Services Officer Mamun Hossain and officer-in-charge (OC) of Charfesson Police Station Jahangir Badsha spoke at the programme.

As part of the initiative, an information-based awareness film was screened, highlighting the importance of voting, the need for free, fair and inclusive elections, voting procedures and the civic responsibilities of voters.

An open discussion was also held through a courtyard meeting, where participants shared views and asked questions about the referendum and the national election.

Speakers stressed that active and informed participation of voters is essential to ensure a credible election.

They said the programme particularly aimed to raise awareness among women and first-time voters and encourage them to cast their votes freely and without fear.

Bhola District Information Officer Md Shah Abdur Rahim Nurunnabi said similar awareness programmes would be carried out in phases across different areas of the district to ensure the success of the referendum and the national parliamentary election.
