Food and Land adviser Ali Imam Majumdar has urged citizens to vote ‘Yes’ in the upcoming national referendum, emphasising that the true owners of the country are its people, who also hold the right to select the nation’s governance.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a public awareness meeting at Shahid Hadis Park in Khulna on Tuesday afternoon.

The adviser explained that in the forthcoming 13th national parliamentary election, voters will cast two ballots: one to elect members of parliament and another for the referendum.

Highlighting the significance of the July public uprising, he praised the sacrifices of its participants, calling their contributions invaluable.

“Their vision was to manage the country in a new way beyond traditional norms,” he said.

He added that proposals from various reform commissions were consolidated to draft the July National Charter 2025 and also appealed to the public to endorse the charter through a ‘Yes’ vote, contributing to the building of a new Bangladesh.

The event was presided over by Divisional Commissioner Md. Mokhtar Ahmed. Special guests included Khulna Range DIG Md. Rezaul Haque, Police Superintendent Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, and Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan.

During the session, video clips promoting voter participation in both the parliamentary elections and the referendum were displayed from outreach vehicles to encourage public engagement.
