Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul has said Bangladesh will not accept any unreasonable conditions from International Cricket Council (ICC), particularly if such conditions are imposed under pressure from India.
The remarks come amid ongoing controversy over Bangladesh’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup, with the country maintaining a firm stance against travelling to India for the tournament.
Speaking to journalists at Secretariat on Tuesday, Asif Nazrul said, “If ICC bows to pressure from Indian Cricket Board and attempts to pressure us by imposing unreasonable conditions, we will not accept them.”
Uncertainty continues over whether Bangladesh will ultimately take part in the tournament.
A final decision is expected on Wednesday. ICC representatives conveyed this deadline to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) during a meeting held last Saturday.
Addressing speculation about possible replacements, Asif Nazrul said he has no information indicating that Scotland would take Bangladesh’s place in T20 World Cup should Bangladesh decide to withdraw.
