Bangladesh's commanding run in the inaugural SAFF Women's Futsal Championship 2026 gathered further momentum on Monday as they swept aside Nepal 3-0 in their third group match in Bangkok, Thailand.
After defeating India and holding Bhutan to a draw, the side delivered their most composed performance yet, asserting control from the opening whistle. Bangladesh pressed high and dictated proceedings, though the breakthrough took time to arrive.
An early opportunity went begging in the fifth minute when Matsushima Sumaiya's pass found Sabina unmarked, but the captain failed to make contact. The deadlock was finally broken in the 13th minute, Sabina showing poise and class as she rounded the advancing goalkeeper before finishing expertly from outside the box following a Krishna Rani assist.
Bangladesh doubled their advantage five minutes later. Krishna Rani weaved past her marker, created space just outside the area and thundered a right-footed strike into the net, leaving Nepal with a mountain to climb.
Nepal attempted to respond on the counter, but goalkeeper Swapna Akter Jhili stood firm, denying every promising effort. After the interval, Bangladesh maintained their grip and sealed the result in the 33rd minute when Lipi Akter finished decisively from another well-weighted Sumaiya assist.
With Jhili again producing sharp saves late on, Bangladesh preserved a clean sheet this time.
The women in red and green will face Pakistan in their fourth league match on 21 January, brimming with confidence and control.
