Jamaat leader dies after collapsing on stage in Kushtia

Prof Abul Hashem, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Kushtia district unit, died suddenly after collapsing while delivering a speech at a political rally in Kushtia Sadar upazila on Sunday.

According to eyewitnesses, Hashem appeared unwell during his address and collapsed on the spot.

Later, party activists rushed him to Kushtia General Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead. Initial reports suggest a possible cardiac arrest, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.

Hashem had been a senior figure in Jamaat-e-Islami, actively involved in organisational activities in the district. His sudden death has shocked party leaders and grassroots activists.

Condolences have poured in from across the political and social spheres, with leaders expressing grief over the loss of the veteran politician.
