The Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) has decided to end its indefinite cricket boycott and is ready to return to play from Friday. However, the organisation have set certain conditions for their return.
In a statement, CWAB said discussions were ongoing within the players’ community regarding the current crisis in Bangladesh cricket.
“We realised that the women’s national team is currently playing in the World Cup qualifiers in Nepal, the men’s national team is preparing for the T20 World Cup, and the under-19 team is participating in the World Cup. Suspending all forms of cricket could adversely affect these teams. We also consider the BPL very important. For the greater interest of cricket, we have decided to reconsider our earlier position,” the statement said.
CWAB welcomed the removal of BCB director Nazmul Islam from the finance committee and said it would allow the ongoing procedural process regarding his director post to continue. The association also urged that, since Nazmul Islam made public remarks insulting players, he should issue a public apology.
“BCB has been informed that if he apologises publicly and the procedural process continues, we are ready to return to cricket from Friday,” CWAB added.
