The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Election Commission to hold election in two parliamentary seats of Pabna on February 12.

The Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Jubayer Rahman made the decision on Thursday after approving a leave to appeal petition against the High Court’s decision on the matter.

Now, voting in the two Pabna constituencies will proceed according to the boundaries set by the Election Commission in its gazette on September 4, 2025.

Earlier, the High Court had declared illegal an EC gazette that transferred four unions and a municipality of Bera Upazila from Pabna-1 to Pabna-2.

The ruling clears the way for the elections to be held on schedule according to the EC’s gazetted boundaries.
