Fahim keen to help Rangpur turn things around in Dhaka phase of BPL

Rangpur Riders' Pakistan all-rounder Fahim Ashraf believes his side have all the ingredients to stage a strong comeback in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title race, despite a setback toward the end of the Sylhet phase.

Rangpur began the tournament in an impressive fashion, winning their first three matches on the trot. However, a collective dip in form later saw them slide to fourth place at the end of the Sylhet leg of the competition.

Fahim, meanwhile, had briefly left the BPL to represent Pakistan in a T20 International series against Sri Lanka. He rejoined the Rangpur squad today as the team gears up for the Dhaka phase of the tournament, as they will face off Dhaka Capitals on Friday to begin their campaign.

"When I left, the team was playing well. Now the challenge is to take the team to the playoffs," Fahim told the reporters here today.

"That's where our focus is. Rangpur is a team that has the ability to turn things around and we are still in good shape.

If we can win a match, we will gain momentum. I believe we will make the playoffs and go on to reach the final."

The all-rounder also reiterated his desire to contribute meaningfully to the team's success.

"My effort is always to contribute to the team. I want to perform at my best and I am keen to give my best.

The rest is up to the fans to decide whether I am a lucky charm for Rangpur or not," he said.

Praising Captain Nurul Hasan Sohan, Fahim added, "All the players play to win. Sohan is a good captain, even though he is not in the best of form at the moment. He is taking great care of the team." "BSS
