Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sazzat Ali on Wednesday called on all police officers to strictly adhere to the electoral code of conduct and remain vigilant against any activities by banned organisations that could disrupt the upcoming elections.
Speaking at monthly crime review meeting at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital, the Commissioner stressed that violations of the code of conduct could compromise the security of candidates and the safety of law enforcement personnel.
“Officers must ensure the code is strictly followed to maintain a secure electoral environment,” he said.
Highlighting the historical significance of the upcoming 13th general election and national referendum, he added, “All police personnel must perform their duties so impeccably that no complaints are raised against them during the election.”
The Commissioner also emphasised the importance of flawless, impartial policing to guarantee a fair and peaceful voting process.
During the meeting, awards were presented to officers of various ranks in recognition of their exceptional performance in maintaining law and order, controlling crime and ensuring public safety in Dhaka throughout December.
