JASHORE, Jan 8: Jashore police have arrested Tridib Chakraborty Mishuk, the prime shooter in the murder case of BNP leader Alamgir Hossain. He was taken into custody on Wednesday evening near the Bezpara Temple area in the city. Tridib is the son of Maloti Chakraborty, residing close to a local hair salon in the area.
On Thursday afternoon, Tridib was produced before the court, where he confessed to carrying out the killing. The judge accepted his statement and ordered him to be sent to jail.
SI Alok Kumar De (PPM) of the Detective Branch (DB) said Tridib was initially identified through CCTV footage from the scene and nearby areas. His location was later tracked using mobile phone technology, which led to his arrest.
Court and police sources said that in his confession, Tridib named the main planners of the murder as son-in -law Porosh and notorious gang member Sagar.
The murder took place on the night of January 3, when Almgir Hossain was shot while riding a motorcycle in his neighborhood. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Asadul Islam accepted Tridib's confession and ordered his remand in jail.
