EC receives 469 appeals in 4 days; deadline on Friday

A total of 469 appeals have been filed with Election Commission (EC) over the past four days by candidates seeking to restore their cancelled nominations. 

The last day to submit appeals is Friday (January 9) after which hearings will begin on Saturday.

According to information released by Election Commission on Thursday, appeals have been steadily filed with returning officers over the past four days. The breakdown of submissions is as follows: 42 on first day, 122 on the second, 131 on the third, and 174 on Thursday.

The EC has scheduled the hearings for the appeals from January 10 to January 18.
