BNP leader shot dead in Jashore

A BNP leader was shot to death by miscreants in Jashore town on Saturday night.

The incident took place at around 7:30 PM at Shankarpur area of the town.

The deceased was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 50, son of Intaz Chowdhury and a resident of Shankarpur area. He was joint general secretary of BNP for ward no 7 of Jashore municipality.
The victim’s elder brother, Jahangir Hossain, said that Alamgir was talking to some people in front of councillor Nayan’s office in the area. At that time, a group of miscreants shot Alamgir on the left side of his head and fled.

Locals rushed to the scene and took him to Jashore General Hospital where he was declared dead.

Dr Bichitra Mallick of the Emergency Department stated that people brought Almagir to the hospital in critical condition and there was a bullet injury mark on his head.

Confirming the incident, Jashore Kotwali Police Station inspector Muminul Haque said, “We have heard that a local BNP leader has been shot in the head. Additional police were sent to the spot to take further action.”
