Jubo League leader held in Ashulia

Police arrested a local Jubo League leader from Ashulia in Savar on Friday afternoon, in connection with a murder case during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

The arrested was identified as Mahbub Sarkar, 38, a resident of Tajpur area, is known as a close aide of Nurul Amin Sarkar, president of Ashulia’s Iarpur union Jubo League.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive and arrested Mahbub. He was accused in multiple cases, including a charge of arson on a parked bus on November 13 last year at Ashulia Police Station and a murder case filed on September 4, 2024, among others.
Ashulia Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Rubel Hawladar confirmed the detention.
