The Trophy of first CAS International Squash 2026 has been formally unveiled at Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Monday.
This competition, one of the largest in the subcontinent, will begin from Friday (Jan 2) at the Army Squash Complex in Dhaka Cantonment and Bashundhara Sports City.
The tournament featuring the participation of 24 world-ranked professional squash players from 10 countries, proves that squash has not only been reborn in Bangladesh, but Bangladesh is also becoming known to the world through squash.
For the first time, world-ranked players from India, Pakistan, Malaysia Egypt and Japan will be competing in this prestigious international squash meet which will be held under the direct patronage of the Army Chief.
Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) vice-president Major Imroz Ahmed (retd) was present as the chief guest in the trophy unavailing ceremony, presided by the Bangladesh Squash Racket Federation (BSRF) general secretary Brigadier General GM Quamrul Islam.
BSRF executive members including Brigadier General Nasimul Ghani, two foreign coaches, were among others, also present on the occasion.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, BOA vice president Major Imroz Ahmed (retd) expressed his confidence and satisfaction over the activities of the squash federation and also assured all-out cooperation from BOA in the development of the game.
